oil for 3.6L DI

Question: Why does my 09 Outlook 3.6L DI LLT engine take conventional oil, while my 08 Cadillac CTS 3.6L DI LLT engine take synthetic only? They are essentially the same engine. Thoughts??

Re: oil for 3.6L DI

Do you know if its the LLT or the LY7 in there?

Wikipedia is showing this---- though my be a mistake?

LY7
20082009 Cadillac CTS 263 hp (196 kW) @ 6200 rpm 253 lbft (343 Nm) @ 3100 rpm
LLT
20082011 Cadillac CTS 304 hp (227 kW) @ 6400 rpm 273 lbft (370 Nm) @ 5200 rpm

though it is interesting that the older one calls for full syn.

2010 FWD LT1-Gold Mist Metallic- seats 8.
Build Date- July 31, 2009-2nd day of Spring Hill 2010 production.
2013 Equinox 3.6L - 16,755
2010 Traverse 3.6L- 74,300
2003 Trailblazer 4.2L-170,500

Re: oil for 3.6L DI

You bought a Cadillac and you would want to treat it to full synthetic.
Treat the Saturn to full synthetic as well.
