Will Not Lock Immediately

2007 XR. Just installed the aftermarket Rose/Carshow GM1210 radio, navigation, and backup camera. Now, sometimes when I get out of the vehicle, I push lock on the key fob and it will not lock even though I am still very close. I tried pushing the unlock and the lights "flashed" so the signal seems to be reaching. But this time, it would not lock until the 30 seconds passed and the headlights went out. Any thoughts?

Re: Will Not Lock Immediately

I think I figured out the problem but I don't know yet what the solution is! When I turned off entry and exit lighting, the remote worked fine! When the lights are on (lights usually turn on when I press unlock on the remote keyless entry), the range of the remote is reduced to a couple feet. I just added the camera and I have it wired into the backup lights so the camera is on whenever the lights are on. Is there another circuit I could wire to that only comes on when the vehicle is in Reverse so the camera would only turn on in reverse and not every time the backup lights turn on?

Re: Will Not Lock Immediately

Thanks for the suggestion. No, I do not have the tow package. However, I wonder if that circuit is in the back of my Outlook. Also, is that circuit energized with exit lighting? I need to find something that is energized with Reverse gear but NOT energized with the exit lighting.

Re: Will Not Lock Immediately

just saw yours is 2007.

the early models- I believe dealer had to do something to the fuse box- to get power to the tow hitch receptacle.

Recreational Vehicle and Trailer Towing
June 1, 2007 3:20 PM
This information applies to the 2007 Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia. Details will be covered in an upcoming bulletin. Here are highlights.

Towing with Vehicles without Trailer Provisions (RPO V92)

These vehicles can tow a maximum trailer weight of 2,000 lb. (907 kg).

These vehicles must be modified by installing a new underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC) to provide full functionality for 4 circuits: ground, tail lamps, RH and LH stop/turn lamps.

Replacement UBEC
Original UBEC

25784722

25784723
25784726

25784725
25784724

To find the original part number, remove the UBEC and look at the side of the UBEC.

TIP: This UBEC replacement should be performed only for customers who perform trailer towing.

These vehicles can tow a maximum trailer weight of 4,500 lb. (2,041 kg)

It is necessary to modify the wiring harness at the Body Control Module (BCM).

Disconnect the X7 connector from the BCM and remove terminal pin 3 (dark blue wire, 38 circuit). Re-connect the X7 connector.

Splice this wire into the wire at BCM connector X6, pin 2 (light green wire, 24 circuit).
