We have just recently purchased a 2008 Outlook but can't open the centre console. I think that a button must be missing. Could someone please post a picture of a centre console for me to compare?
thanks so much!

I suspect you mean the arm rest, not the sliding door underneath. The armrest is a little awkward. There's a button on the forward edge, press it and then lift the armrest. However, you cannot just put your finders under it as that's the release for sliding the arm rest. If you look, there's a gap above where the arm rest opens.

Kerry,

It looks like salguod gave you some good advice. Has your concern been resolved? Please feel free to contact me or Michelle privately if you need more assistance. Thank you.

It doesn't lift, it slides. There should be a paddle you squeeze with your fingers releasing it so you can slide it back.

Then there's a sliding door covering the compartment itself.

And if you make it that far, you might find a filler piece in there with a coin holder. That piece will lift out for additional storage under it! :blob:

OK, just went out to look, and there is a sliding cover for the storage under the armrest, but the only button on the front of the armrest is to open the armrest itself. There is another space beside this button, but I am thinking that the button to make the armrest slide is missing. Guess back to the dealership it goes for them to put one in!

thanks for the replies! I mean the centre armrest.

We have no problems opening the flip top of the armrest, we just can't figure out how to lift the entire armrest to get access to the storage bin underneath.
theres 2 buttons- one allows you to open the flip top- the 2nd button is right next to the one you use to flip open--- you press and pull back.
the whole armrest should slide back- allowing for access to the sliding door and the coin holder- and huge storage space under it.

@klv1977, I realize it has been since late January of this year since you had posted about the buttons on the arm rest of your Outlook; how did things go with your visit to the dealership about this?
