2008 XR Won't Start

We have a 2008 Outlook XR with 110,580 miles. We've had it about 10 months.
When I got it, the driver power door lock would work intermittently and the remote start wouldn't activate. I replaced the actuator, with no change in operation. I checked all the fuses and wiring connections, I found corroded terminals in the connector at the passenger side kick panel. This was from previous sunroof drain issues, I assume. I cleaned the terminals and blew the drains out. It didn't change the locking issue. On its own, the lock started to work in the next few weeks, and has operated ok since, though the system doesn't seem to sense the drivers door being open correctly. The interior lights will go off with the door open as if it were closed (all other door sensors function fine), the system does tell me that the driver door is open if I open it while in gear.
I give all that as background, as now the car will not start at all.
A few weeks ago we noticed water on the passenger floor after a hard rain. The car wouldn't start for my wife, then did start an hour or so later. I assumed the sunroof drains were clogged and blew them out again, pulled up the carpets and dried the area out. We went away for about a week, leaving the car outside. I came back to find both front carpets wet. The car started and acted fine at first. The next day it would not crank at all. It acts like a park/neutral switch failure on older vehicles.
Since then I have pulled the headliner down and checked the sunroof drain system out fully, it seems fine. I have also sealed the rear moon roof, R&Red the luggage racks and sealed the mounting holes, and sealed anything suspicious on the windshield gasket. I have also pulled the carpets and dried everything out, cleaned and re-tightened the body grounds throughout the interior, checked every wiring connector that I can find, as well as all fuses.
I found the connector to the passenger side front door full of water, as in it had actually filled up the flexible wiring cover to the door. I dried this out also. I have water tested the roof and windshield extensively, and can't find a leak with the headliner still down.
At this point, the car still will not start and acts the same as the park/neutral type failure. I found something online about resetting the Passlock system, and tried that but it won't reset according to their instructions.
I would really appreciate any help anyone can offer. Next step is to tow the vehicle to a repair shop, which I'd really like to avoid.
Btw, I was a GM dealership technician through the 80s, and have done all my own mech repairs since.
Thank you, Dale

Re: 2008 XR Won't Start

I have downloaded that manual and am in the process of unzipping it and going through it. Thank you, electbc!

Since my first post, I've physicality gone through everything connector I can get to checking for corrosion and issues. I've found green terminals in the connector at the passenger kick panel. I disassembled the connector, cleaned the terminals, inspected for wire breaks or damage, and reassembled. No help.
I also found a lot of corrosion in the connectors at the top of the fuse box behind the glove box. I did the same thing with the fuse box, going through it totally. No help.
I also pulled the starter and tested it and the wiring to it. All ok, made no difference.
At this point, I'm about 90% sure it's the BCM, based on research I've done on here and other sites. Even if it isn't the main problem with the no start, there have been many weird problems with door locks, courtesy lights, displays, etc, I'm inclined to think its faulty to some degree.
Any other thoughts?
I'm about to take it to a dealer, if I can communicate with them and not pay them to redo everything I've just done.
