Swappping rearview mirror

This is my first post. Hopefully, I've followed all the rules.
Picked up a preowned 2009 Outlook XE AWD with no navigation system. My past cars had compasses and there is none in this car. I know that XR series Outlooks have the compass built into the rear view mirror. Can I pick up a mirror with a compass from the scrapyard and swap it with my mirror?. Does the wiring harness in my XE have the compass connector, and do I have the equipment to feed the proper position to the mirror?

Re: Swappping rearview mirror

2009's had the compass moved to the DIC on the right side of the display. The only mirror changes are for those with rear view camera and not.

Re: Swappping rearview mirror

If your DIC says CAL right by the outside temp---- then all you have to do is go into the menu (via DIC controls) select the compass- and select the ZONE youre in-- then youll have to drive around in circles (empty lot) to calibrate the compass)-- once thats done- the compass should display heading on the DIC.
