Outlook with water leak

We have kept our Outlook garaged until we bought a 3rd car that bumped the Outlook outside. Now that it has rained I'm seeing wet carpet on the driver's side floor. I did a search here and found multiple posts on the topic but now I'm trying to figure out what to do.

Is this something I can fix myself?
Is there a recall for this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Outlook with water leak

First of all you are probably out of "B2B" warranty. Yes or no?

Second did you receive a letter to take your Outlook in to have the drain lines for the sunroof extended? There was an issue with this because the lines were not long enough it was permitting water to get into the vehicle, especially on the drivers side.

Third if you are out of warranty there are several good threads on how you can deal with this yourself, because bet is it is going to cost you a lot of money at the dealership to get this fixed.

Fourth...good luck because I know what you are going through. You might check out the Acadia, Traverse and the Enclave boards for more information on how to take care of this on your own.

Good luck!

Yes, at least I think so. It's a 2008.

I haven't seen one yet. The only recall I have received was for the windshield washer fluid tank heater.

Yeah, I don't mind doing this myself as I have replaced a burned headlight connector on the driver's side. I'll do it if I have to, but if there is a recall, then I want to make a service dept take care of it.

Did you buy this new?
If used, from a dealer?

Re: Outlook with water leak

The Outlook has a 3 year 36,000 mile B2B warranty. If you are beyond that then the leak would not be covered. The warranty starts the day the vehicle is sold. So if you purchased it used you would need to find out when the vehicle was first sold. Also if you have an extended warranty, which some have purchased, the leak is NOT normally covered.

Also as what was just mentioned, did you purchase from a dealer and was it recently? If so there may be coverage with them just need to know how long their coverage would be on used vehicle sales.

Re: Outlook with water leak

Bought it used about a year ago, so no warranty.

Also, if there was no recall, then I'm on my own. Looks like I'll be troubleshooting soon.

Re: Outlook with water leak

Good luck! Some have repaired the leak on their own. It just takes patience and work but it can be done. Someone, I will have to check, installed larger than normal drain lines which he said seemed to help tremendously.

Re: Outlook with water leak

Thanks. I guess I need to just take a look and see what I can find out.

I did come across this, so it may help to get started.
