2007 Outook Unstable when driving Sways sideways back and forth

I have a 2007 Saturn Outlook AWD XE that is unstable while driving. After hitting bumps or changing lanes it can go into a heavy oscillation that will not stop until the brakes ar applied. I have had the following replaced: Front struts, rear shocks, right rear upper control arm, front sway bay links and bushings. I also had new tires as the old ones were massively worn on the inside edge. I also had an alignment done. The shop cannot find anything wrong with the suspension and the problem still exists as much as ever.

I've seen some similar problems described on this forum but never any final solution. Has anyone else had this issue? It is extremely frustrating and really undrivable in its current state.

Are you the original owner? Has it been in a collision?

Re: 2007 Outook Unstable when driving Sways sideways back and forth

With the help of another forum member, it was determined to be the lateral links. The mechanics couldn't see anything wrong with them while on the car and even after they had them removed but this is what ultimately fixed it. It was a very frustrating problem that was very difficult to diagnose. Tires showed excessive inside wear that I did not discover until they were beyond saving. I had two independent shops say they could find nothing wrong with the suspension.

I have a 2008 and was just going to ask if anyone had recommendations of what is wrong when we hit bumps the front end feels like it is dribbling down the road. I never noticed it changing lanes, but a few small bumps in the road and it just keeps bouncing. Did you replace all 3 and did it stop the bouncing and shaking? Sorry for the bold but it is my main question.

I don't drive the car often, it's for my wife, but I also noticed that when I stop at a red light the vehicle starts shaking, like we are in a tremor. After looking around it appears to be the motor mounts. How could GM continue to build a product with known problems? I am very unhappy, this was our 5th brand new GM, and might very well be our last.

I had this same problem. It drove me crazy. I thought it was due to my struts, to the point that I had them replaced by a local Goodyear dealer that I go to for my tires. I was frustrated to find that my issue hadn't resolved.
When I took it to my dealer, they took it for a test drive and found that one of the rear lateral links was busted. After the repair, I felt like an idiot for having the struts replaced. At least I won't need to buy struts for a long time

What did the dealer charge to change the lateral links?

bought my parts (2 links) from Napa and had a front end mechanic change these. parts $75. each...labor and alignment was around +tax....$190. total was $340. dealer wanted $700. for just one lateral link installed.

My suspension fells pretty sloppy. Front end bonces a lot. I think its time to replace the shocks anyway, but also going to replace the springs with the H&R Performance Lowering Springs (Front 1.3 | Rear 1.4). Already called and talked to H&R. It will give it a more sporty ride.

changed out my lateral links and found that the rubber bushing was soft like a marsh mallow and this fixed it.

Which Link did you replace? The one that's big and shaped like a S or the upper short ones that are just a little curved?
Thx
