Re: humming noise in steering column

Groan in steering at low speed (i.e. turn in/out of parking spot) could very well likely be air bubbles in the lines caused by fluid level dropping during use (i.e. articulating the steering all the way to lock). Check if your power steering fluid is at the correct level. I have seen other posts regarding purging air from the lines by idling the vehicle with the PS fluid cap off for approximately 40 minutes. This may help isolate the cause.
