Plastic is very much a part of anyone’s everyday living. Research shows that 40% of all plastic produced is for packaging, from beverages, biscuits, candies, fun snacks, delicacies, preserved fruits, frozen processed meat products and many other consumables to toys, house items and more. Plastics are all around us, even in the clothes and shoes we wear. Every time we go somewhere, we take along some plastics with us. The question here is, what will you do with those plastic wrappers? The world is looking for concerned citizens who will take a step to reduce plastic waste while traveling.
It is better to fully understand how serious the problem about plastic is. National geographic magazine recently featured an article about plastic waste pollution crisis calling plastic as a miracle material that made modern life possible and for a time, we depended on it but now, we are drowning in it. Quoted from the article “If plastic had been invented when the Pilgrims sailed from Plymouth, England, to North America—and the Mayflower had been stocked with bottled water and plastic-wrapped snacks—their plastic trash would likely still be around, four centuries later” That is how long a plastic life can be.
