Re: Outlook Gas Mileage - What to do????

i drove from del. to sc @ 63 miles an hour. managed to get 500 plus miles with one tick left on the fuel gauge. not bad. filled up and was at almost 3 quarters of a tank when i reached my destination.

I'm guessing that is mostly flat terrain? 500 miles is good for any passenger vehicle; unless it's a hybrid

no. a lot of up and down here in sc and also going through nc kept it on cruise the whole way. was very shocked myself. but, the first time i made that trip, it was a lot more but i was doing about 75-80 on some parts of i-95.

Re: Outlook Gas Mileage - What to do????

First road trip in my 2010 XR and I got a pretty consistent 13.5 MPG cruising at 67 MPH.

Of course, I was towing my 2,000 lb pop up trailer and I have 4 bikes on the roof ...

Did a little test with the DIC on a trip from Columbus OH to Cincinnati OH on Sunday. Had the roof rack removed and it was only me and two kids and camp gear with me. On the way down I reset the MPG as I entered the freeway and it read 21 MPG when I got there. I had the cruise set at 74 MPH, but I reset it before I accelerated to speed. On the way back, I reset it after setting the cruise at 74 MPH and it read 24.9 as I exited the highway. It was only me on the way back, so a couple hundred pounds less weight and only cruising speed.

All in all, not bad, I thought.

Re: Outlook Gas Mileage - What to do????

Towing, it's worse. I got 15 MPG or better towing, once as high as 18, but it was really unhappy going much over 60 MPH towing. The Outlook was happy as a clam at 67 MPH and would have gone faster if I wanted. It mostly stayed out of 6th on it's own in tow mode, didn't have to manually lock it out.

If I locked the Odyssey out of OD, though, it'd drop a lot. First tank I towed in D3 (it only had a 4 speed auto) and got 12 MPG. Towing in D4 (overdrive) was OK as long as it wasn't shifting in and out of OD constantly. On flat ground it generally didn't, so I'd leave it in D4. I towed through the mountains of WV in D3 and got 13.5.

Overall, I averaged 20 MPG over the 160,000 miles I had it. Too soon to tell how the Outlook is going to compare. Initial around town MPG seems a couple points less, haven't done a full tank on the road yet, but the sampling I did on Sunday looked promising. I think the best tank I had in the Ody was 24 MPG.

Re: Outlook Gas Mileage - What to do????

The best I observed with my Outlook 3.6DI is 25 MPG on the highway. The consensus seems to be pretty much the same across the various Lambdas. Someone might squeak out a little more here or there with a stiff tailwind or after lifting off the pedal and watching the meter. But more or less you're looking at a best of 25 MPG.

I consider 25 mpg very good considering the weight of the vehicle

25 mpg is great for this heavy vehicle. Loaded with the whole family (6) we get around 22ish.

Re: Outlook Gas Mileage - What to do????

1700 mile trip to Florida and back with the rear mostly full of luggage and a four bike rack on the back. 21.0 MPG according to the computer.

Wish I got 25MPG...
