Re: Puddle of coolant on the garage floor today!

the water pump can be done thru the wheel well.
they remove the tire- and access the area thru there.
the water pumps on the lambdas now have a specific tightening procedure.

The water pump is behind the upper pulley in this pic- taken from the wheel well area. you can see 2 of the water pump bolts.. that you can reference with the bolts in the schematic.

New Water Pump Bolt Torque Sequence
By Blog Admin on March 2, 2011 8:52 PM

A new water pump bolt torque sequence has been implemented on all High Feature V6 engines (2.8L, 3.0L, and 3.6L) to help reduce the potential for water pump gasket leaks. This applies to all model years, 2004 through 2012.

When installing a water pump, use the following revised water pump bolt torque sequence and procedure:

Ensure that the engine front cover and water pump are clear of old gasket material.
Ensure that the water pump mounting bolt holes in the front cover are completely clean and dry.
Place a new water pump gasket on the water pump.
Place the water pump in position on the front cover.
Install the water pump bolts finger tight.
Tighten the water pump bolts in sequence to 12 Nm (106 lb. in.). (Fig. 24)
Tighten the water pump bolts a second pass in sequence to 12 Nm (106 lb. in.).
