Be concerned, reduce plastic waste while traveling

How much you care about the global concern over plastic waste will determine the degree by which you will contribute to finding a solution, best perhaps, even be part of the solution yourself. Plastic is very much a part of anyone’s everyday living. Research shows that 40% of all plastic produced is for packaging, from beverages, biscuits, candies, fun snacks, delicacies, preserved fruits, frozen processed meat products and many other consumables to toys, house items and more. Plastics are all around us, even in the clothes and shoes we wear. Every time we go somewhere, we take along some plastics with us. The question here is, what will you do with those plastic wrappers? The world is looking for concerned citizens who will take a step to reduce plastic waste while traveling.
It is better to fully understand how serious the problem about plastic is. National geographic magazine recently featured an article about plastic waste pollution crisis calling plastic as a miracle material that made modern life possible and for a time, we depended on it but now, we are drowning in it. Quoted from the article “If plastic had been invented when the Pilgrims sailed from Plymouth, England, to North America—and the Mayflower had been stocked with bottled water and plastic-wrapped snacks—their plastic trash would likely still be around, four centuries later” That is how long a plastic life can be. There are now billion tons of plastic wastes both on land and in the oceans. When you go out, what will you take with you to help reduce plastic waste while traveling?
We are on this planet only on borrowed times and our future generations shall bear the consequences of our actions. Those who came before us were not yet mindful of their ways, throwing those packaging overboard as they traveled. Reaping now the results of their negligence, do you plan to make a mark in the efforts to reduce plastic wastes while traveling? The time to act is now. Let us support national movements to control plastic wastes, our individual effort is essential and will surely count. Even sharing this writing is a very tangible act in fostering awareness of this issue, an essential factor to a successful campaign against plastic wastes.
