Re: 07 Transmission Failure (yes me too) but is it related to water leak?

The timing chain is covered only if a certain code is thrown - mine did not throw the code - its "only" $500 of the $6000 bill.
Talked to GM Canada - nothing available for us on the transmission repairs. So it looks like its going to get paid for by me :-( The former Saturn dealer is going to do the work as they have the experience on these cars. They told me today .. they havent seen it before until recently .. now 5 of them in the past 6 months alone. Yikes!!
If there is a recall / rebate whatever - the onus will be on me to seek a rebate from GM Canada since my car is a US car. Trust me if there is any wind of a rebate/recall I will be all over it for 6Bills!

The new transmission is a new part # - so something has changed - thank god - in the design of the unit.

Daryl
PS .. doesnt everyone agree the transmission never did feel right -- all those reprogrammings they had to do to try and get the thing right..

Re: 07 Transmission Failure (yes me too) but is it related to water leak?

Can anyone look up my VIN. 5GZEV13757J105979. CARFAX told me that my transmission had been replaced but the dealer says it has not. I am having transmission problems and want to know if I have any recourse with them as far as warranty.

I see you have an MY07. How many miles do you have? Timing chain coverage was extended to 10 years/120K miles.

Ours did the same thing, had it towed to the dealer and they drove it around the block as if nothing was wrong. Then they said the transmission was going and replaced it under the 100k mile power train and got us a rental car for the week. Hope they do the same for you. Ours is a 08 with 74k on it.

07 Transmission Failure (yes me too) but is it related to water leak?

We had a big downpour and water leaked into the cabin - i thought I solved that one - apparently not :-( Anyways .. it dried out and I thought all was good. Not!
Sitting at a stop light .. check engine light comes on and the car seems like its in neutral - nothing going to wheels. They say yes it is this 3-5th gear wave plate separating - a $6000 repair item (including timing chain)

Is there any GM help here? I have it sitting at the former Saturn dealer now waiting on my go/no go..

Help!!

Dary.
