With the 08's it depends on the build date. The early ones built at the end of 07 and up to about March of 08 had the problems.

Points of leakage:
Driver and passenger side drain tubes on the sides of the sunroof in between the sunroof and moonroof
Luggage rack brackets
Behind the dash on the passenger side - yes there is part of the drain tube there as well
Also note, the drain tubes can get clogged with leaves and other junk that come in when the vehicle is parked and the sunroof is open. This has happened to me 2 times and the dealer fixed both times at no charge, when he should have charged.

But once fixed, I have not had any more problems.

Re: Sunroof

Have the recall work done and you will not have the problem. GM knows why they leak and have a fix for it. EVERY car has issues (Japanese too) and GM stood behind this one.

Re: Sunroof

hello all,
This seems like such a common problem, I hope you can get it resolved soon.

I bet there are many forum posts devoted just to this issue----have you checked around for more tips?

All in all, it is a great vehicle don't you think?

Re: Sunroof

I have no idea, I just know that it is not leaking from there any more. I can tell you that they did not seal the gasket, I can't see any silicone.

Re: Sunroof

(January 5th - I had mine in again last week because of a leak again. It was the luggage rails. The way the sit, the rubber gaskit does not sit flush with the roof (it hangs over a narrow valley (for lack of a better word) and allows water to get up inside the bracket and run down the screw holes. They went through and sealed all of the screw holes with silicone, which should do the trick. From what I understand they have corrected the problem with the sunroofs in the 08's with a correct size drain tube. I would go for it.)

khansen30, did they seal the screw holes from the inside or the outside?, or did they take the screws out and put sealant in the holes and then put the scews back in? Also is there a nut that holds the screws in place or are there threaded inserts welded to the underside of the roof? Did they take the screws out of the whole entire bracket or just the front?

Re: Sunroof

klhm60, it is not going that well for myself and GM, no big suprise considering the state that they are in. My offer from them is MSRP to MSRP but they want me to pay usage fees That's not working for me so now the BBB is involved. I've never had to use the BBB before so I dont know what to expect. I can only hope that it is fair to me since I've been the one dealing with the water leak problem since June that can't seem to be corrected. One gets fixed and another one shows it's ugly head I'll keep in touch and any other help and/or advice would be great. My OUTLOOK only has 17,000 miles on it now and only 13,000 on it when it all started. I keep hoping for the best.

Re: Sunroof

6Sixathome They replaced my 2007 leaker with a brand new 2008 Outlook and I could upgrade but had to pay the difference. So far no problem with sunroof but I always seem to be checking any ways. Good luck

What I did according to the Michigan lemon law. Apparently in Michigan if you have to return your vechicle (3) times for the same problem or if they have it in the shop more than 30 days it is considered a lemon. After the 4th time I took my Saturn in I sent Saturn headquaters a certified letter informing them they had 30 days to correct my problem, if they can't correct the problem they are suppose either exchange the vechicle for a new one or buy yours back from you. I received my new vehicle without the help of any laywers. Good luck on your lemon law process....what state are you in?
klhm60 was it a straight up exchange? I mean your leaker for the new 08. How many miles did you have on it when they replaced it? Were you able to change anything like color or features or was it like for like? How has the new one been so far?
