Does anyone know if the 2008 Outlooks will have the 2-way Advanced Remote Start System? I have read about this and I guess GM is going to install these new systems on select vehicles. Apprently the new two way remote lets you monitor important vehicle systems on a small LCD screen on a key fob.

  • Facts:
    • The key fob is a future dealer installed option.
    • It was featured with a photo in the 2008 Buick Enclave brochure (picture attached)

    • Rumors:
      • It will be available in September.
      • It involves a special electronic module (with a long range radio) in the engine compartment that is installed by a mechanic.
      • The cost for the electronic module and one fob will be around $250 (again this is the rumors section..).
      • If you have the remote start luxury package on your vehicle, you may not need the radio module - saving $150 or so.
      • Any GM vehicle capable of accepting the radio module will be allowed to offer it (some without the door opener)

The idea of monitoring my tire pressure from my bed or by the pool or in my work cubicle is extremely appealing. I don't know why.. my wife would never understand. I relish the thought of opening and closing the rear door while unsuspecting fools walk by my car as I watch from my office window.. Easily worth $250 for that alone!

This is a GM Accessory, and will be available for install on basically any new GM vehicle through your dealer--just not a factory item on any vehicle.

I just got my Outlook and it came with the normal remote start. Will I be able to get this installed when it becomes available.
Yes, it's just an add-on GM accessory.
