Anyone else had this problem? On the hwy it runs great but in town driving it tends to heat up to about 220 and the a/c shuts off then on the green light it begins cooling back down to 205 or so and a/c kicks back on.

I am driving from CA to CT over the next couple weeks and really need to figure this out. Thanks ahead of time

1- check coolant level in the reservoir and the radiator.
2- check the passenger side of the engine- by the wheel well for signs of coolant leak. sometimes the pump leaks- but it dries up and never hits the ground--- you may see signs of dried coolant. look around all the pulleys (look thru wheel well with a flashlight).

There have been owners who noticed a slight leak- that stopped- but then a week or 2 later- the pump failed big time.

Ok thanks for the help. After a buddy of a buddy at pep boys tested it fame to find out someone in the "aloha" state decided to remove one of the fan relay switches and place it in the spare slot. That keeps the fans from running in high mode. Now we are back on the road across country and all is good.

now thats an interesting find..

maybe something like on Trailblazers... when the headlights fail-(low beams)--- in an emergency you can take the Fan clutch relay and pop it into the headlight relays position and headlights work ok...
Usually having headlights was important at night- when they leave you stranded.... and night time- the fan may not be needed since traveling at highway speeds- can keep you cool enough....

220 isn't that hot, based on threads on the Acadia forum. Normal is about 210 but it should be fine up to 260 something.

Of course, with the fans disabled ... :eek:hno:

220 isn't that bad but when the ac shuts off at 225 and it's 115 or so outside it sort of makes it a bit uncomfortable. We actually just drove over 600 miles and it never came off of 208 or so.
