I had the same issue with the water pump. This forum saved me about $400 when I saw the post about the water pump. GM is covering them to ten years/120K miles. Mine was replaced for free by my neighborhood Chevy dealer.
Just had an A/C issue fixed ('08 Outlook), yours may be the same. Mine was cooling only intermittently. I had developed a leak in the high pressure hose around the metal fitting due to aging and wear. Had it replaced, no issues since. Repair tech said that it was a miracle I was getting any cooling at all, since almost 90 percent of my refrigerant had already escaped.
