2009 Outlook Engine Problems

4309 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  ls973800
We have been told the engine in our very young 2009 Outlook must be replaced. Then we were told the engines are junk and replacing it would not get us very far. I have never worn out an engine before. All you will get out of an Outlook is 120,000 miles? Really? This is very sad. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. Needless to say there will be no more GM purchases in our household!

What is wrong with the engine? Are you over 120,000 miles?

GM has a Special Coverage Adjustment #11340C which your 2009 Outlook was included in. It provides extra warranty coverage for 10 years or 120,000 miles on the timing chain from the date the car was first put in service.

Might be a glimmer of hope if your has a bad timing chain and you are under the 120,000 miles.
I think that makes it even worse....it is the chains and we are at 125,000 miles. 5,000 miles over the cut off....ugh!!!!!!!!!!!
Well now that I have looked at all my recalls and warranties for this car I don't have anything on the chains or the engine. When did that come out and how were consumers notified?
A simple Google search using the Special Coverage Adjustment number I posted for you shows it was issued 11-5-2012. You can find a copy of it online, or check with your dealer for more information.

When you mentioned about the engine only lasting 120,000 miles, I was hoping you were actually just under that, not over it. I would at least be armed with the bulletin and see if GM would assist in any way at this point.
