Hmm, bluetooth available on 2009. I wonder if it will be install-able on 2008s?
I have posted that question on the other Outlook forum. Response was that it is a whole new Onstar box. Don't know if it will work on the 07 or 08's.

Correct. It is a new Onstar system, Onstar 8.0, that incorporates this new Bluetooth feature on top of every other function it already has. These systems are vin specific to the vehicle they're installed into, as well, and more than just a single module. So, no backwards compatibility.

The only possible option is if they ever develop and offer an accessory with the same function that does add onto existing Onstar setups, but that's a blue moon kind of a thing. Otherwise, aftermarket setups will be the main source, some of which are getting quite good and OEM-like in operation.

Hi all, first post on this forum.

I'm strongly considering purchasing an Outlook or a Buick Enclave. Leaning towards the Outlook at this point. Also, trying to evaluate whether I should try to catch a deal on an outgoing 08 or order an 09 just the way I want it.

So, here's a question: I've read that one of the changes for 09 on the Enclave is that they will have a front seat cooling option. Anyone know if that will be available as well on the Outlook?

I prefer leather seats and love my current heated ones. Having seats that could cool in the summer would be really nice. Thanks in advance for any info.

I have not heard it but they don't always cross all the options (I would have liked HUD but only on the Acadia). I would wait for th 09 because of the DI engine, bluetooth, and one more year to get the kinks our (CAM problems from supplier). You don't hear as many Outlook owners complaining about problems as much as the Acadia and Enclave owners do. Two reasons I can think of: 1)We are more tolerant and the dealers get the problems fixed 2)fewer problems. After reading some stuff about towing packages I would not get an Acadia as the tail pipes are too close to the hitch bar and clash over bumps - I don't know how the Enclave is in that area but the Outlook has not had that problem. I am very happy with my Outlook as it is my second Saturn and Saturn has always been good and honest with us. We bought our Aura in December and the dealer treats us like royalty. They know us by name and go out of there way to help us. I don't get that sense from other GM dealers.

In any case I don't think you can go wrong with either choice - and don't forget you have the Traverse to choose from as well and possibly a Cadillac version in 2010. Good luck!

Since cooled seats aren't listed in dealerworld (first post), chances are good that the 09 Outlooks aren't getting the cooled seat option. Kind of disappointing, actually. But like khansen30 pointed out, the DI engine alone will make 15 more HP and probably 10% better fuel economy over the outgoing 08 engine. If I were in the market now and oculd wait until June or July, I'd at least wait until then to see what price differences there will be, and to see the EPA ratings for fuel economy on the new engine.

Thank you both for the comments. I'd really like to wait until more is known about the 09's. Mileage, price, exactly what options, etc. My current SUV runs fine but has 155k miles on it and is using oil. Not going to last forever at this point.

I'm 41 yrs old and this is the first time in my life I've ever considered mileage when purchasing a car/suv. Really an issue now. If the new engine can manage 10% better mileage and more hp, well, I'll wait for it.

BTW, it is technically the SAME engine, just with DI, correct?

Yes, it's the same 3.6L V6. However, about 20% of the parts have to be changed/replaced/upgraded when converting to Direct Injection. But it's not an entirely new engine from the ground up, you're correct.

I have been looking into this also and just got off the phone with Saturn customer service. I was told that it was a software upgrade and not to the onstar module because it is available on outlooks without onstar. He couldnt or would not tell me what module gets the software upgrade. I am diggging deeper.
Anybody else have some new info?
