Trying to help out my girlfriend who has a 07 Outlook with 70,000 miles (built 03/07) with the p0017 code. From this forum I have found that this code usaully means a stretched timing chain. The code was pulled by Autozone. I change her oil every 3-5k miles, not sure if this helped with making the chain last a little longer than some I have read about
The car was brought to an Auth GM dealership today and she showed the service advisor the ticket from Autozone and was told they still have to pull the code by their scanner and that it would be $95. They pulled the same code, said it would take 30-60 days to get the parts for the timing chain and also that her airbag light was also causing the check engine light and charged her $95. To fix the air bag for the passenger seat , appr $1000...
Anyone else get charged the diagnostic fee if the repair is covered under warranty? I kind of thought that charge was a little out of line..
Thanks,
Tom
