Re: Air Bag Problem

Look at the "Airbag light on....apparently not related to recall" post that I answered in the Problems and Fixes section. Depending on what model year you have this issue has been addressed by a recall.

Please enter your Outlook's info in the signature so we can see what model you have :thumb:

Re: Air Bag Problem

This could be a couple of different problems:

1) You could have a problem in the seat sensor wiring. There have been two recalls that address this problem and are a free fix. You could call your local dealer and ask them to run a report to see if your vehicle has already had the recall serviced.

2) The sensor in the seat might have failed. This is my case. The sensor is designed to turn off the airbag for anyone under 50 lbs. If the seat can't sense how heavy the passenger is, it will turn off the airbag and turn on the CEL warning. My dealer quoted me approx. $800 to replace the sensor. The cost is mostly labor because the seat cushion has to be disassembled in order to access and replace the sensor.

Cross your fingers that yours is covered under warranty or recall. Good luck!
