Air bags did not WORK

Yesterday my wife had a car pull out in front of her and she hit it going 45 mph and it took out both front fenders the hood the drivers door and none of the air bags was set off. Yet ONSTAR called as soon as it happened and sent help. My question is are this cars safe , even the police and body shop said the door impact alone should have set off the side air bags. The front is smashed into the radator . How did onstar know to call if it did not call for airbags. She is fine just sore and beat up. Just very upset with the failure on the system. Who would I contact about a issue like this...

If you are in the US, I believe there is an NTSB site you can report safety related issues.
Before the crash-- was there any service airbags messages?
No warning lights or check airbag lights, we just had the door locks repaired last Thursday.
Here is the NTSB Vehicle Safety Link, should you decide to file a complaint:

We're glad to learn your wife is safe after the crash, maxxedout. Safety is paramount to us at General Motors, however we recognize you've begun to question this with your vehicle. If there is anything we can do to further address your concerns we're happy to help. Please contact us via private message, or by email at [email protected].

Car totaled, body shop said the seat belts locked which was suppose to happen right before air bag deployed. Said it could be a bad sensor or connection, we will be checking into this..
Sent IM and message to the link listed, guess nobody wants to talk about it. Well the Outlook is gone and there will not be another, car was great when not in shop or leaking. Hope you all many safe miles for the future.

Thanks for bringing this up though, it made me do some research and found a recall for reprogramming the air bag module on 2007 outlooks and acadias. It's towards the bottom.. well I cant post links but click the link someone posted and enter the vehicle year and model
