2008 Outlook XR.

From any window switch, the down position works OK...the window goes down. Moving the switch to the Up position usually results in about 1 second of upward movement, then the window stops. If I keep holding the switch up, after 3-5 seconds with window might move up for another half second (maybe an inch or so) then it stops. Release the switch and move to the Up position again, it seems to resume...up for an inch, pause, repeat.

~ 1 year ago, I replaced driver's side switch panel with aftermarket. Thought that cured it. Not sure when the problem stated above started due to bad communication from my ex.

Checked and cleaned all connections inside the driver's door; they seem OK. Checked and cleaned the bulkhead connector in the door jamb; it's clean as can be.

Symptoms make me think relay or computer. Can anybody link me to the pertinent wiring diagram?

I'm hard pressed to think all switches are bad... ???

Unknown if the express-down function works, if that even matters.

Thanks for any help or guidance,

Ron

It sounds like either the window motor is going bad or the window regulator/linkage is binding or going bad.

All four windows exhibit the exact same symptoms. The odds of all 4 switches, regulators, or motors going bad at once is pretty high.

FIXED?

Finally got to work on it more tonight. Swapped the power window relay (PWR/WNDW) with the right power seat relay (RT/PWR/SEAT). Odd, I don't have a power seat on the right side, but there was a relay there.

Anyhow, seems to work. Will monitor a while before I'm sure.

Those relays are on the top side of the instrument panel fuse box. Remove glove box to access. Not addressed in the Owner's Manual that I could see.

One hard slap and kick in the nutsack to the documentation manager for that BS.

Also, never saw a relay with two pins until tonight. Not sure if it was the relay itself or the act of reseating it that (hopefully) fixed it. Also, in the process of doing this, I disconnected the battery, maybe resetting the BCM? Dunno. I hate 'fixes' that I can't pinpoint.

Glad to hear they are operating properly again. Hopefully that's the end of it.
