Thinking about purchasing some aftermarket DVD headrests for my 08 Outlook XR. Anyone out there installed aftermarket? Where did you purchase?

I like the idea of the screens being in the headrest but I'm wondering how the wiring gets routed (i.e. can you cleanly hide it) and is it something you can do yourself?

Well, for our vehicles it is expensive. The headrests are tiny and only one company I know of is making them especially for these cars which is Rosen. My cost on these are about $1500 which is a complete kit with 2 headrests, remotes, and headphones. Granted when installed they look better than the OEM and also have more features. The only downside is the cost. Most people just go for the overhead flip screen.

I have ADVENT by AUDIOVOX touchscreen headrest DVD/40built in games. The dealer installed them when the car was new and just before I bought it. $1995.00 They are cool and awsome but not worth the $$ I paid, if I had to do it all over again I would go the Best Buy and get the personal DVD players for $80. and save the money. I have 4 kids and we never use ours ::)

True; but that install looks much nicer than hanging DVD players off the back of the front seats :thumb:

Okay, where did the Outlook branded rear mat come from ?
I got mine at the dealership in '07 with my 1st OUTLOOK, not sure where to get them now, I just checked the Saturn accessory website and no-go. Maybe your SASP can get them.

None of those headrest DVD systems will work on the Outlook. The headrests monitors they have are all too wide. Also, our headrest are sort of carved out on the underside. They also sort of tuck between the sides of the seat. Trust me, I've looked into this and have had to do the Rosen pieces for a Chevy dealer on a Traverse. The Audiovox unit is actually also made from Rosen but it lacks some extra features from what I've read.

I'm sure the new Rosen DVDs are better yet. My headrest look and pivot perfect, they look like OEM.

Yes, I haven't installed them in one of our vehicles but have done it in others and the quality is 2nd to none. I really do like them but man is that ever a chunk of change to throw down. I want to install one of their DVD/GPS Nav touch screens in my Outlook but my cost on the thing is $800 and I can't give up that sort of coin right now.
