Well just curious what your guys' opinion was on pushing the liftgate down instead of using the auto lift feature to close it?

I believe our sales person recommended letting the auto do its thing instead of pushing it down...like as if it was better for the mechanical closer.

I can see where he is coming from...but at the same time it has to be designed to not use the auto closer also (i would think).

Don't want to damage the auto closer, but also don't want to wear it out by using it when not needed. Pretty much have to use the auto opener...can you pull it open once started?

I have never had, or known anyone that has had a power liftgate (i got mine...because i had to (limited selection of 08's))

Ditto on the open part :) I didn't find way to manually open it - as soon as I touch the button it starts.

IMO closing it manually isn't hurting the thing. BTW - if you haven't noticed - when you pull it down manually but not slam it, mechanism engages and latches it which is nice.

If I remember the manual stated if you turn off the auto with the button under the radio, when you put your hand in and under, like we do now, the gate will release and you can pull it open, only if the car is unlocked.
