When youre in Drive and say 6th gear-- essentially overdrive- and doing about 1700 rpm... to make a quick pass- you have to really step on it-- and then the trans has to think about it- and then shift- etc.....
The easier thing to do in this case-- is to grab the shifter--- and shift to L.
This will automatically shift you to 4th gear. Youll see a 4 appear on the DIC.
Going to 4th will also increase your RPMs..
So you have high rpms (about 3000-3500)- youre in a more responsive gear- and the shift occurs pretty fast...
any small press of the gas pedal results in pretty quick response from the engine/trans.
Once you complete your pass--- either use the +/- buttons to shift to 5th/6th--- or simply put it back into D... at which point it will soon go back into 5th/6th
