When youre in Drive and say 6th gear-- essentially overdrive- and doing about 1700 rpm... to make a quick pass- you have to really step on it-- and then the trans has to think about it- and then shift- etc.....

The easier thing to do in this case-- is to grab the shifter--- and shift to L.

This will automatically shift you to 4th gear. Youll see a 4 appear on the DIC.
Going to 4th will also increase your RPMs..

So you have high rpms (about 3000-3500)- youre in a more responsive gear- and the shift occurs pretty fast...
any small press of the gas pedal results in pretty quick response from the engine/trans.

Once you complete your pass--- either use the +/- buttons to shift to 5th/6th--- or simply put it back into D... at which point it will soon go back into 5th/6th

interesting about that TSB and its shift points...

The table below shows the Shift Pattern Change at Light Throttle.

heres some info from a thread I posted- and my shift points in my 2010... how I drive to get good MPGs...

went for a quick drive around the neighborhood---plotted this data-
starting with the blue line--- at about -77 (77 seconds since I began to log)....
I came to a complete stop--- as shown by the red-- 0 MPH in the 2nd graph...
I proceed to easily accelerate-
1-2 shift about 1850 RPM at about 10.5 MPH- continue to accelerate
2-3 shift about 2230 RPM at about 21 MPH- continue to accelerate
3-4 shift about 2200 RPM at about 33 MPH-

where I then reach a peak - about34 MPH--- yes 34 MPH in 4th gear...-- watching traffic down the street I notice theres a red light... no need to accelerate -- So I let off the gas...
