Hi Outlook Owners,
Was down at the dealership today and picked up a GM Bug shield made for the Outlook,
I also was looking at the chrome w/ black step running boards GM makes for these
vehicles. They had a used Outlook on the lot with these already installed so I looked at them up close.
Really these are nice looking but the vehicle does not sit high enough to make them functional.
For me to get in and out of the vehicle they are in the way and hit the back of my leg. Now
if they had a 3" lift kit on the SUV they would probably work great! But for stock height vehicles
it is non functional Bling in my opinion. But I am 6' 4" tall so for someone short they may work.
Just my observation, The bug shield looks great by the way! :) Has anyone else put a Bug shield on
their Outlook? Any dislikes about it?

I don't have a bug shield, but I am thinking about getting one. I already have a ding on the front of my hood from a stone. It's very small, but I notice it every time I look. A bug shield should cover that up nicely...

Can you post pics of your car with the bug shield?

I'm only 5-9, don't have running boards, and I don't have any trouble getting in or out either. I agree with your assessment - that it's more for style than function. I've seen the running boards on a few and they do look good on the highly optioned Outlooks, but I'd rather have the ground clearance personally.

I like the look with the bug guard on both. Might go that route. Responded over on saturnfans.com also...

The running boards go well with the silver too. Gives it a more upscale look.

6sixathome,
If you dont mind me asking, where did you get the Outlook badges for the side doors?
and what did they cost?
I really like those and would like to get pair.

Thanks Big Red O :thumb:

I have the bug shield I like the look and it fits well and does a good job. I just ordered aftermarket boards that are molded to the vehicle they come tommorow. I dont like the look of the oem boards as they stick out too much and look cheap in my opinion. I had similar boards 22 years ago on my nissan pathfinder and thought they we cheap lookin back then.

Heres a link to the ones I ordered

Big Red O,

Like others have posted here, I too think the hood could benefit from a shield. The front is so massive that in a short time on road trips she will get riddled with nicks.

On the running board point, I opted to have the dealer install the factory ones. Not so much to get in/out for adults but more for a cosmetic/bling reason. I just thought the lower part of the Outlook and Acadia needed some chrome. If you are short or a child, they are functional to get in/out. Just be careful not to Armorall them. They then become slick and a hazard if you attempt to use em.

On one of my previous vehicles, I purchased a clear bug shield and took it to a paint shop where they sprayed it on the back side with the car color. Blended in nicely for a smooth flowing look and still functional. I may search for one for this Outlook and if successful I will post the end result with pics here.

Great support net for the Lambda owners.

Regards,

Jim

Big Red O, do you know the bug shield part number and price? It looks wider than the one I was looking at Weathertech so I am interested in it.

Thanks.
