I bought a 2007 Saturn Outlook June 2010, it left me stranded and had to have the transmission rebuilt in Feb 2011, then it left me stranded again with loss of power going 60 on the freeway with a code P0741, reset computer and cleard code at dealer...then same thing happened earlier this month....something's up!! Took car back to dealer who rebuilt transmission and they said to bring it back with I get stranded again....WHAT!!??....I'm usually not right in front of the dealer when this happends. I think the same thing happeneing 2 times is a clue that somethings up but they say they can't do anything unless it happends. So I'm supposed to drive around with my family in a car that has a history of stopping becuase the transmission goes into safety mode??? :banghead: I don't think so. Any help??

Do you have Onstar Active?
When this happens- call them- and have them run a diagnostic-
They can then tell the dealer the code showed up- and proceed from there.

Don't have onstar activated, but I know the code becuase both dealers I had the car towed to wrote it in their report so the dealer I took it back to who rebuild the transmission knows the code and the problem they just don't want to mess with it or check it out. I'm thinking it might be a problem with how they rebuilt it or with a faulty transmission computer. I believe this particular code has to do with the torch converter clutch being stuck off. This happends at high speeds swtiching between 3rd and 4th gear (from my research on this site from other posts). Not sure if the problem really happends or the computer "thinks" it happends and puts the trans. into safe mode so you HAVE to take it in.

I just don't understand why they can't run a diagnostic to determine if the torch converther clutch is working properly?? why do I have to wait until it happens again and leaves me stranded?? That's not good practice for a dealer. or, they are waiting until my 100k warranty runds out (I'm at 78k now) so I have to pay.....that's not going to happen.

well- interestingly---
I just used my scantool- co-worker said his check engine light came on-

The code that came up was P0740.
The vehicle is a Honda Oddyssey.

P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit/Open
P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off
