I've been researching the Outlooks for over a year and just pulled the trigger in November when GM announced the 0% Financing - we purchased a loaded White Diamdond with tan leather interior with 12 miles on it. Exactly what we wanted.

I got mud flaps and spoiler discounted in the deal and installed at the time of purchase. And since I already knew about the Transmission Re-Flash / Recall, I told my sales guy to do the Re-Flash while it was in the Service Dept. I take delivery and ever since, I couldn't see a big difference in the pre-flash vs. post-flash of the transmisison. I was one of the guys voting "see no difference after re-flash". I've been extremely happy with the car and but not extremely pleased with motor response.

So I take my 4 month old Outlook into a different Saturn dealership yesterday (it's closer to where I live) to get the oil changed for the first time and tires rotated. I brought up the squeaky break and exterior temp sticking and he was reading the GM bullitens to proceed. Then he informs me I have a recall notification on my VIN# for the Trasmission Reflash. I told him I instructed the Dealership where I purchased to perform that and was told it was already completed. I asked if it was possible that they didn't update the system and he said that no, that is impossible. So he proceeds to perform the Re-Flash while the car was in getting the oil changed.

I drive the car off the lot an hour later and if feels like a new car! I'm pumped up! I am now voting that I can really tell the difference in the Re-Flash. But now I'm not happy the sales guy did not deliver what he said. I guess I will get over this - my happiness over the new Re-Flash trumps the sales guy lying to me. But I doubt I will ever return to that dealership for anything.

So just a word of wisdom / experience - if you don't see a difference in your Re-Flash - don't hesitate to take it in again or ask another Saturn Dealer to see if has actually been completed. Their service department should give you a print out of the work completed.

Joe, what did they do about the squeaky break thing and the sticky temp situation? My temp works as it should but my break pedal is starting to squeak more and more.

Squeak Break - There is two GM bullitens.

1st was published in 2007
1st said that many dealers had ordered replacement parts, etc trying to fix this, but that was unessecary. Advised to drain the factory Delco brand brake fluid and replace with another brand.

2nd was published in Jan 2008
Advised that the current brake fluid is 3DOT (some oil term I'm not familiar with) and should be replaced with 4DOT. However GM has not sent the new 4DOT oil to the Dealers yet.

So for the squeaky break, basically live with it until GM can get the 4DOT version out to the Dealers. It appeared that the 1st Bulliten did not satisfy the problem 100% as originally thought, so they are working on the 2nd solution.

Sticky Temp - They replaced the sensor as advised by the bulletin. There was also notes that the location of the sensor was an engineering design flaw and GM is working on a fix but nothing is published on this yet. I'll see if the new sensor works any better or not. I've read on the Acadia board with this topic with mixed results.
