I have a '08 Outlook and I find that the dash lights are dim in the daytime compared to my '07. I know that I have the intensity knob turned to its' brightest setting. When the sun shines in the car you can't read the time or the temperature settings. Where is the night time sensor that dims them at night? Could that be bad?

the light sensor is on the dash-- way up towards the base of the dash/windshield..
its a little dome looking thing- center if the dash.

you can test it - daytine- simply cover it up-- see if lights come on...
Or nighttime--- shine a flashlight at it for some seconds- and you should see a change in the lights.

Maybe the potentiometer is bad (the 'intensity knob' as you phrased it).
