DIC Lights

I have an '07 XR and now my DIC lights are fading in and out. Never done this before. Has anyone else run into this and if so, what the heck is it doing? Thanks for any input.

Sounds like the waterpump went bad and it overheated, or the timing chain is stretched. If it overheated, the change oil light will come on because the oil will act as a coolant and try to remove some of the excess heat from the engine. This theoretically ruins the oil and so it should be changed. The light was telling you it turned off the stab/trac because of performance problems from the engine. It also reduced the engine power to protect the engine.

The power train warranty is good for 100000 miles or 5 years, so hopefully the in original in service date was after 04/03/2007. If the timing chain is bad, that has a special extension on the 2007 models for 10 years or 120000 miles.

Let us know what you find out.
