Folks,

Gotta' tell ya', I gave it all today but could not eclipse rbarrios's fine achievement in highway miles per gallon. Click here for rbarrios's high point:

http://www.traverseforum.com/index.php?topic=1859.msg20307;topicseen#new

My trip was approximately 160 miles in Michigan. Mainly slight rolling hills on the interstate for about 130 miles of the trip...the rest small towns (35-45 mph) and in town (stop & go). Haven't filled up yet but looked at the DIC for range left and it read 300 miles to go.

I must say to get this kind of mileage you have to drive under the maximum interstate speeds. I usually drive her right at 72-75 mph so this was an exercise in restraint LOL!! As you can see I had the cruise set at 60 mph and I used low and locked her in manual 6th gear (making her free wheel downhill [it works!!]). Watched her steadily climb to 30.2 for the tank's average. Pics following tell it all. My '09 FWD Saturn has 28,600 + miles on her. She is "just a sweet ride."

Exercising restraint with these gas prices does work!

Looks good Jim :thumb: I've seen 30mpg briefly before, but it seems too hard to do all the time though, how's it running?, I'm doing good here with a little over 30k.

Hi 6,

Doing well and enjoying this transition weather we're having here in SE Michigan (what a nice break from the grip of winter).

The Saturn is performing flawlessly. No issues. Think she's in her "zone" so to speak. Really is an enjoyable vehicle to travel in. I take it you are also experiencing non-events and enjoying your ride. All this discussion on timing chains makes me think that she might be a time bomb, so to speak, but I just can't dwell on that. I'm well under the drivetrain warranty miles wise, so I'm just driving her and keeping good maintenance records.

Yes, non major events so far, (well the trans had to come out for the TC hub seal and had to get steering gear bushings) but I still can't dismiss the timing chain issues other are having, wondering if and when I'll catch the bug even with the ECM/OLM update and good oil change practices. For now I'm just going to keep on roll-n. Do you have the 19" or 18" wheels?

Mornin',

Mine has the 18" wheels. I think if and when I need to shop tires, I'm going to look at possibly replacing with the factory chrome wheels/tire combo in the same stock 18" wheel. These Futuras are wearing well. Just might get a bargain from either this forum or fleabay.

Dang. Best we've been able to do is about 21mpg. That was on a long highway only trip. Most of the time we get about 17-18 with daily city driving.
Wish I could get better mileage. :help:
