Since finding out last week that a dealership in Knoxville installed an engine, supposedly under warranty, and used the VIN# from our Outlook, I have been trying to get this mess resolved.

So far as of yesterday afternoon here is what I have accomplished, or not, and trust me the frustation is building.

Oh by the way....preliminary note is....Knoxville dealership are complete idiots.

I placed two phone calls last Friday and they were to call me back after the second call. By 4pm yesterday still had not received that call back.

SOOOO I decided what the **** I gave them a call and I was told by Matt that there was not anything they could do to change the record.

Let me think....okay here are my thoughts about this:
- in order to change or rather correct their mistake they would have to contact GM (thinking they do not want to do that)
- they would then have to find out what vehicle they actually installed the engine into
- to find out who's car has the new engine they have to pull out the original work order from 2009 and see if they can decipher the signature
- they would have to explain to GM that okay yes they charged GM back on a warranty for an engine but but but the engine actually went into this vehicle and not the 07 Outlook
- if they installed an engine into a vehicle and they find the vehicle was not under warranty and the customer should have PAID for it do you think the dealership would be happy that they now have to PAY GM back for an engine
- or perhaps and I am being rather.....the dealership could have charged the customer AND collected from GM the hours involved....double dipping...heck government workers do it so why not dealerships

Sorry folks but right now I am laughing my ass off because well.....

YEP I am in contact with a GM representative and after I sent to her all the information I have pertaining to our Outlook she said she will get back with me within two business days.

She apologized for the problems we are having, especially with the Knoxville dealership, and she will get this straightened out.

YIPPEE.....okay a bit premature yet if she does pull this off my confidence in GM will rise ever so slightly...perhaps not enough to buy another GM yet enough to....tone down my bi***ing....okay reality just kicked in...nope sorry can't help myself it is that bi***iness in me that always shows.

Have a great day folks because mine.....is always an adventure.

I've always wondered about things like this. I bet it happens a lot especially if it is on a car the dealer took in on trade that needs fixing. Just find another car that the same make/model thats under warranty and swap out the parts.

Thanks and hey I can't wait for the outcome myself!

Although now as for my confidence in GM it just spiraled down the toilet about one hour ago.

Yep I received a call, not from GM, but from "Reichard Buick" the dealer who has my Outlook AGAIN for possible timing chain issues...2nd time.

The result is.....not good. One new piston and a crank shaft actuator(sp not sure) needs replaced. Steve explained to me what the actuator does and I understand but not enough to try and put it into writing.

Although as Steve did say not quite a new engine but almost.

ALMOST WHAT THE ****!

Guess when the GM representative does call (oops not call but EMAIL) me back perhaps I will tell her well....if she gets the 2009 engine replacement removed...there may be a new engine installed in 2010.

SO READY to get rid of the Outlook.

Yea and you know what?

It is as if I am getting the "shaft" (crank that is) without getting kissed.

I have had intermittant issues with the "traction/stabalink" message popping on for two years and not until last month did anyone say the "problem code" was directing them to the crankshaft/timing chain.

That and leaking since March...hopefully the fix they just did replacing the seals around both sunroofs will solve that "damp" issue.

Like I said I am so ready to get rid of the Outlook. Now if they can just put it back together and GM can removed Knoxville's crap from our history.....

Oh well it could be worse I could be having problems with our 2003 VUE which just keeps chugging along.

So according to GM, your Outlook already has a new engine installed in it from the Kentucky dealer............I don't blame you for wanting to get out of the Outlook

GM Customer Service; are you reading this??

The service history print off shows that a new engine was installed in July 2009. I know for a FACT that this was not done.

Although as I just said with what was was done...and what is being done now it could almost be a new engine.

LOVE MY VUE!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Oh and I forgot we love my husbands Nissan! So one VUE yippee.....one Nissan yippee.....one Outlook.... :banghead:

Ya I would say it's time to get it fixed and send it down the road, too bad as they are a nice vehicle. To be honest I still dont trust my 09 entirely yet. The whole timing chain thing for the early 09 builds has got me a little uneasy. Have you thought about what you are going to get? I've tossed the idea around so many times I think I'd likey get a Traverse 1st and Acadia 2nd (this is a tough decision as the Acadia I really like but the Traverse LTZ is growing on me) and I want to see the 2nd Gen Acadia, hopefully 2012. Dont take bottom dollar for your OUTLOOK, hold out until you get the right deal, it might take awhile but it will happen. .02$ :-\ Good luck

Well good things are for those who wait...and I am waiting.

The parts are on order and if they are available in Cincinnati could be at the dealership tomorrow. If not looks like not until Friday then of course they won't get to my Outlook until next week. Banking on getting the Outlook back next week.

hummmmmmmm so waiting and waiting will continue.

Okay I heard from the GM rep and have a "#" assigned and the dealer in Knoxville has been spoken to and they are working on getting the "engine replacement" removed from my Outlook history report. I have been given a date as to when the GM rep will be contacting me back with the result. THANK YOU MS.......YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

So now as for "carfax" usually that is where insurance companies report vehicles that have been involved in accidents. Other than that one would have to request a "vehicle history" report from the dealer which is based on the VIN#. I bet that anyone who wants to purchase a "USED" vehicle can request this information. Although not sure but....would like to know if I am correct on this.

Oh and one more thing...the dealership I am working with now....great bunch of people.

Tomorrow I am picking up a rental and letting them know that before I pick up the Outlook, whenever it is finished, I would like the oil changed and an alignment. No sense in having it there without getting something else which needs to be worked on.

So now if we were to ever consider either a GMC Acadia or a Buick Enclave or what the heck a Camaro (oops forgot Reichard doesn't sell Camaro's) (husbands and has to be a convertible) they will be at the top of our list.

You see considering that we have three vehicles we usually keep each one for 8-9 years. So that means the 03 VUE would be up for replacement at the earliest....2012 then the 05 Nissan (350z convertible) in 2014 and the 07 Outlook in 2016. (LOL because I forsee the Outlook the first one to go and the others....add another year or two on to their end date) So you see it a really good considerate and competent dealer could have a customer purchasing a vehicle every 2 or 3 years.

Of course they would have to have a vehicle that we want. So far....(fill in your thoughts).

Just returned from Reichard with a rental car.

You are going to love this one. They gave me a really used Buick LeSabre with 268,985 miles on it, yep over 200,000 miles AND this is the really funny part. The service tech when he handed me the keys said "Oh by the way the "service engine" light is on...don't worry its' the gas tank cap and we haven't got around to taking care of it". :banghead:

YEP I just roared laughing over that one...and said good one you have my Outlook in, which by the way you will be taking the head off the motor AGAIN, and you put me in a car with the service engine light on.

How so very very not funny. :eek:hno:

Don't take this the wrong way....so far I have confidence that Reichard service department will fix my Outlook. :thumb:

Otherwise I will be driven to  even more.

ROFLOL!!! It does!

Like I told the service tech when I picked up the rental. "I am being so pleasant over all this yet I am just so pissed off". He looked at me and said "thanks".

I do believe he knows that I do have a temper and I have been really really working on keeping it under control. My husband is amazed that I have stayed this calm...okay perhaps in person yet....not in writing. LOL!

Have a great day and as you can tell my days are always an adventure!

Any more news?

Nope the Outlook is still at the dealership....removal of the head in order to replace a front piston and the crank shaft actuator. Thinking since this is the second time in 30 days probably should just have a new engine dropped in. What do you think???? Let me know okay!

The "loaner"....not fun to drive squishy shocks and that darn check engine light...way too funny.

Don't think I will hear anything back on my Outlook until the first of the week.

So then as for the "engine replacement in 2009" which WAS NOT DONE (like I just said...although probably should be done NOW) I have a message that I will be contacted by the 16th of August as to whether they "will" remove that from my Outlook's vehicle repair report.

SOOOO another weekend of....NOTHING!!!! Except of course dinner out with friends and since my husband doesn't drink and is the "DD" Saturday is looking to be a whole lot of fun.

I would push for a new engine; that one you have now is junk IMO
Pretty much what my husband said the other day and I agree with him 100%. LOL :D boy when he reads this I won't hear the end of that.

So back to stuff...we have a fine dependable mechanic I have used for 17 years and who takes care of our 03 VUE and our 05 Nissan 350Z and previous cars. I called him after I found out about the "second invasion" :angryfire: of the engine. His comment was "No ****....get rid of it!". This guy is good I had Sable which had high miles on it and he kept it together until one day the air-conditioner went out and he said "don't put anymore money into this...get rid of it" and I did without the air-conditioner working. He never sold me any service I did not need. He and I talk about our cars and he knows I am no fool when it comes to the mechanical operations of a vehicle.

He also gave me the name of a lawyer.....my husband is thinking really seriously about this.

I know with what is being done to the Outlook right now will only lower the resale value even more and **** when GM closed Saturn that was a big enough hit.

Ya, push for a new engine and dump it! Then you can tell the potential buyer it has a brand new engine and will run forever ;).
