Greetings, my first post here after learning about the Outlook elsewhere.

I've read over many of the posts in this section, nothing is recent regarding my question. My wife has an 8 year old Dodge Durango we are considering trading in. We have looked over the several SUV/Crossover type vehicles and she really likes the Outlook. Our local dealer has an '08 XE equipped and colored in/out that we can live with. The sticker is around $34K. I'm looking to pay cash, so financing or leasing is not relevant.

I've researched prices of the Outlook and the Acadia, what we are looking for is a base (XE/SLE) model with cloth interior and a couple of options such as the remote start (preferred?) and tow packages and rear DVD player. I wanted navigation as well, but found it was not available on the XE/SLE. No matter, since I found a link here that shows how to retrofit!

The only incentive I can find as of now is a $500 one for either brand. I read there is a push to sell '08 models by June 30, but these incentives to not apply to the Outlook/Acadia.

The dealer wouldn't give me a price on my trade or his vehicle since I need to transfer funds and there is about a two week delay until this takes place.

We are not locked into a new vehicle, but the used ones I've seen are within about $3~4K of Edmunds market price for an SLE Acadia ($31K) with our equipment.

I have read about the Chevy version coming out and that all '09 models will have several improvements, albeit at a 3% or so price increase.

I'm wondering with GM stock making (bad) news in recent days if now is a good time to buy or is it better to wait for better deals and/or the '09?

Thanks for any insight.

I've never been a fan of leasing, we tend to retain vehicles for many years and the last time I crunched numbers on one leasing was more expensive. What I got from that thread was that GMC and/or Saturn may not be around much longer ala Oldsmobile. I'm kind of leaning towards a Traverse anyway, but need to see what the prices are to make an informed decision as to new ordered 2009 / new in stock 2008 or used.
