First of all I know there are many people that are having this problem, its just a bad design and it really needs to be made into a recall. The wires are way to small gauge and they simply cant take the heat. I was amazed at how inaccessible the bulbs are, but it is possible to get to from the wheel wells. The dealership wanted over 700 dollars to replace the two harnesses and the bulb. I bought the 3 yr extended warranty, but because of mileage I was out of warranty in just over two years.

I called GM and asked for something that most people probably don't ask for...for them to pay for the repairs. Surprisingly I was led thru a helpful and friendly process, I expected to have to fight much harder to get what I felt was right. I was ultimately assigned to a district specialist to make a determination if they would give me GM Assistance. I got an answer with in hours of getting assigned to this specialist and got a phone call from the service writer within a few minuets of the district specialists call.

The reason I am writing all this is not just to mention it, it is to alert all of you that if you have the 08 model...your head light(s) are gonna go out. The lights on this car are very focused low beam lights, they are NOT effective with one light out. There were many nights, especially when it was raining, that were very scary. It needs to be recalled!! It is a serious safety problem, lights are not optional. javascript:void(0);

I would encourage all of you to educate yourself and take action on this before it bites you in the ass. They only did mine because it was only two years old...had I waited or just accepted the dealers answer, I would be out 700 plus dollars.

Respectfully,

Michael :cheers:

Just wondering if anyone has had anything related to this replaced on a preventative basis. I'm at 33k miles and would hate to have something happen out of warranty. Isn't there a TSB on this? Think if I bring that in they'd replace the harness' under warranty?

for those who get no satisfaction from GM on cars out of warranty, go to Pep Boys and get a new bulb and a push on terminal kit (pn 84347) to replace the plug. If you've checked with the Stealer you know they dont sell individual parts, only ultra expensive kits which includes the wiring harness and the complete light assembly.

Take it in and tell them you've intermitent issues with the light going out. They'll check it out, either they're starting to melt and they will replace them or they will find nothing and you will not have the problem in the future.
