By default, when you post a reply to a topic, it returns you to the board thread list instead of back to the topic you were reading. Personally, I find this to be counterintuitive and, so far, I haven't found a way to make that change globally. But if you'd prefer to stay in the thread you're reading (basically to see your post) after you reply, you can change it in your profile...
Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences -> Return to topics after posting by default.
PS: Be sure to look around in your profile. There are quite a few settings in there to help customize the way the forum acts for you. Take a few minutes to set it up the way you want.
