Well a few questions regarding the L transmission setting.

Can you shift to L on the fly?

Will it remain in the gear it is in if you shift on the fly?

Or the lowest 'safe' gear for the speed you're at?

Yes and yes. You shift on the fly and it stays in the gear you are in, allowing you to then set the highest gear manually.

Mine and several others do not stay in the gear you are coming from. If I am in 6th, it goes to 4th, 5 - 3, then 4 -3. If I shift down I am thumbing up before it can change to either 5 or 6. My wife's Aura stays, but I have not found an Lambda that does.

I did a quick test this weekend, and it definitely down shifted when i went into L. I went probably from like 4-3, I think it had eluded to shifting to lowest recommended gear, for the speed you were going in the Manual.
