The low beam headlamp on the passenger side of my '09 Outlook XR is inoperative, we have less than 14,500KM's on it and is a Sept-08 build. Took it into the local Saturn dealer to have it checked out (it's not even 6 months of use yet). Turns out there's a TSB #09-08-42-004 "Low Beam Headlamp Replacement/Diagnosis (Inspect Fuse, Bulb, Harness, Replace Harness and Fill Connector Cavity for Low Beam Bulb Connector with Nyogel Grease) - (May 29, 2009). Document ID: 2284787. Applies to models 2007-2009 Saturn OUTLOOK.
The high-beam on my vehicle was fully operative (both sides) as was the fog lamps (both sides), the drivers side low beam headlamp was operational but not the passenger side. Dealer is going to order the parts and replace. Tried to Google the TSB number and the document ID, very little posted about it except for on this site: http://www.justanswer.com/questions/2o0ei-2007-saturn-outlook-took-vehicle
So if your headlamp goes out and you don't have a lot of hours on the bulb, it may be that the wiring harness has melted and shorted out. The lens housing may not necessarily need replacement (but should be inspected by the service tech). Something to think about the next time you go to change out a (supposedly) burned out headlamp! Good thing I didn't waste any cash on obtaining a replacement bulb.
[@Admin: I didn't find this in the TSB section - please consider adding. <Thank you> ]
