When we roll down any window in our 2007 XR, we smell a musty odor. At first we thought it was outside but if you smell at the base of the window(where the black rubber peice is), you smell it. It's only on the outside though. Is anyone have a similar problem? Saturn of Western Hills said the took the door panel off and there was no problem, but my wife and I smell it and it smells like a problem.

The dealer said it is the fabric strip touching the window. He said it is on all the outlooks. This smell is there every time we open the window. If anyone knows of a solution please let me know. The service manager said it is normal.

The dealers do have a deodorizing package they can use if its coming from your HVAC system. (vents, etc.)

Does not come from HVAC or a sunroof. It is only on the outside of the window not the inside. Almost like the wetness from the weather is trapped some where and can't excape. We don't have a sunroof and I thank the Lord we chose one without because all the problems people are having with them.

It has to be the rubber weather stripping or the fabric strip touching the glass. I've had this smell on an Avalon, a Maxima, a Dodge Caravan and have recently noticed it on the 2007 pre-owned Outlook. It goes away in the winter / cooler months. Worse after a rain. Have smelled it on both American made and Japanese. Just bad combination of water and rubber. Have sprayed an industrial de-odorizer on it in the Maxima. Helps for a little bit but streaked the windows. I chalked it up to not winning this one.
