First thing I thought the car was awesome!

Second the Dealer was terrible.

I test drove the XR Black/Black Leather and was blown away. I had my checkbook in hand.

I looked at a cocoa XR with the touring package and the electronic gate lift. Only problem was it had a tan leather interior I wanted black leather. I wanted this exact configuration.

My Checkbook was open.

The dealer advised me that none was available. They were a conglomerate that owned three dealerships. They claimed they could not get me one as none of their dealerships had any. I asked them if they could search one and first the manager said he will not look outside of Florida, then it changed to 100 miles then his three dealerships. They kept trying to get me to buy the tan interior one. I kept saying no. He said there was no markup on these cars and he would not search one out for me.

I then related I would lik to order one from GM. They told me no 2007 orders only 2008's can be ordered? (is this true?)

They tried to sell me the tan interior one again.

I left with my checkbook. What gives? I feel like crap. Is it that hard to get a custom order done? Or were they just not wanting to bother?

That's really not too out of the ordinary, as these vehicles are selling very quickly and it can be hard to find one to meet a certain person's specs--exactly what the Saturn dealer I just drove one at said. BUT, they also were very willing and said it was common practice to get a list from a prospective buyer of exactly the vehicle they wanted, then they'd search within about 300 miles or so to see what they could find that was as close as possible to that.

At the same time, it is nearing the end of the model year, and yes 2007's can no longer be ordered, and will end production in very early June, with 2008 production starting mid June--those can be ordered now, but without exact pricing known yet.

Sounds just like they wanted very much to sell what they had on the lot, which is understandable, but most are at least very willing to search within a certain distance to get just what you want. Try another dealer, is what I would say, however difficult that might be depending on how few or how many are in your area.

I am still disappointed with their service. I contacted a car broker who is working on finding me the model I want. I will advise.

You didn't mention where you're located, but a quick search of central florida has already turned up several Cocoa/Black Outlooks.

Two at SATURN OF LAKELAND
One at SATURN OF PEMBROKE PINES
Two at SATURN OF CARROLLWOOD

that was just a quick 5 minute search on a handful of dealer inventories, but it shows that there ARE Cocoa/Black Outlooks to be had on dealer lots in Florida. I would find another dealer, you should not have gotten the runaround like that. They should be willing to search nearby dealer inventories for you and make a trade. Then give that other dealer a bad review on some Saturn websites, they will straighten out in a hurry.

Hi thanks for the response. Unfortunately, the Pembroke Pines dealer was the one I went to and got the poor service. The one there did not have the touring package and convenience package which I must have. I also called a West Palm Beach Saturn who also could not locate one. They also were "not sure" if they could order one.

Update: I contacted an auto broker who did a search and related that the exact model I wanted which was Black/Cocoa, touring package, Premium Trim, and convenience package was not available in Florida. He suggested I order one from the factory just as I want. I just gave him my $500 deposit. Amazing that this broker just did for me in a few hours what two dealers would not in two days....

Yeah, my GMC dealer spent more than an hour searching in a 4 state area for us. I thought Saturn dealerships were supposed to be even MORE friendly and helpful...?

Well at least I am getting the vehicle I want exactly. The broker also noted the 2008's are not expected until December-January. I had him double check this based on some reponses I saw on this board. He was 100% sure they are accepting orders from the factory at this time. I do not have a confirmation as yet but he just placed the order with the dealer this morning he uses. I will update once I get a confirmation.

I must say I am terribly dissapointed with the service from the sales staff at these two Saturn Dealers. If they can't shove whats on their lot down your throat they dont wan't to see you. This needs to be addressed. This is why I hate buying cars.....

Your "broker" is severely out of his loop on the ordering.

As was said, 2007 ordering closed for sure last month (go ask a dealer who is competent), and 2008 ordering has been opened for a bit now. Those 2008's will start rolling off the line on June 18th, and be at dealers shortly thereafter in the beginning of July. No CLUE why someone would have such bad information as to say December-January, or to give the impression you still ordered a 2007.

The only other possibility is that they're just going to locate one farther away and bring it in for you, just as if it was "ordered". Just hypothesizing.

I just spoke to my broker and he says the car, a 2007, was ordered yesterday. He is waiting for the confirmation #. I also sent my father in law in Cleveland to a Saturn Dealer up there (I am in Florida) and the dealer up there told him they are still taking orders for the 2007. He says the 2008 wont be out until the end of the year.

So far I have had three dealers tell me the 2007's can still be ordered and my independant broker just told me he ordered one yesterday.
