Of course I know about always replacing in pairs etc. About a year ago, I replaced all 4 tires with new Continental LX20s. I have only put about 3000 miles on them, mostly highway, and they still look brand new. One tire (left rear) just got a 4-inch gash on the side wall (unrepairable). So, can I get by just replacing it with a new LX20, as opposed to buying two (saving me about $200)? What does everyone think?

3,000 miles would hardly put any wear at all on your tires. My thought....go ahead as long as you get the exact same tire.

We just replace One tire on my Wife's 08 Outlook as well. The current tires are only one year old, so there was no issue for us. She had a cut in the sidewall as well.

Had the same thing happen to one of my LX20s and I only replaced the one.

yeah- 3000 miles should not have worn the tire much--- unless you were 'smoking' them...

should be ok..

issues can arise when the tread is significantly worn compared to a new tire.
