I have a 2007 Outlook that has had the "Check air bag" sensor light on for two years now! I brought it in to be fixed twice while my car was under warranty to my Worcester dealership. Both times, the light came on as soon as I pulled out of the parking lot. The second time it happened, I was leaving for vacation so I couldn't go back right away. My dealer (now closed) is 30 minutes away and always had to give me a loaner when extended work was being done. They had my car for an entire week the last time this problem was "fixed." Now I need my car to be inspected and it won't pass unless I get it fixed. The GM dealer down the street can't find any documentation from Saturn that I had this problem addressed before and said it will cost me $1000 to repair the sensor!
First, how can I prove that I had the sensor worked on twice before while under warranty? I wouldn't put it past this dealer to have not documented it because they messed up so many times on other work that I had done and had to go back to them to fix... timing off on tires so my mileage was being doubled, put my car through a car wash when I had kayak racks on top and ripped my racks off, replaced car window and then door wouldn't close properly...
Second, the GM dealer told me that this is a common problem on the Acadia and Outlook. If this is so common, then why isn't GM repairing it as a part of a recall? I just had two recall repairs done this week and a new one came in the mail yesterday. With all the recalls I get from Saturn, what is one more?
