Was quoted at $900 to replace faulty passenger airbag sensor. I know this was discussed on here before. Being told by GM that even though a service bulletin was issued for this it is not a recall and GM will not cover the repair. Anyone have any luck getting GM to make this repair at no cost? It's a safety issue as well as a very well known GM problem.

What year is your Outlook?

The recalls announced Monday include:
— 1.18 million SUVs because their side air bags, front center air bags and seat belt pretensioners might not deploy if drivers ignore an air bag warning light on their dashboard. The recall includes theBuickEnclave and GMC Acadia from the 2008-2013 model years; the Chevrolet Traverse from the 2009-2013 model years; and the Saturn Outlook from the 2008-2010 model years.

I had a local Chevy dealer (Pittsburgh) perform the service for the 2008 Outlook I purchased used after calling Saturn and having them contact the dealer. The symptoms were the "service air bag" light coming on intermittently. I was not charged anything and I believe they performed the service on the driver side. I am now beginning to get the same from the passenger side. I am going to call Saturn again (they are very friendly and helpful still!) to see what they say about this.

I was not aware this was not covered if it is only for the driver side. So if this is happening to the passenger side they are saying it is not covered by the recall?

It is a 2007 Outlook. Was told by dealer and GM this is not covered under any warranty. I contact NHTSA, based on their website I am the 65th complaint to them about this same problem with this same car. It should be a recall.

I have the same issue on my 2007 Outlook XE. I have noticed that moving your butt around will sometimes make the switch work. I'm thinking of replacing the switch but I need to remove the seat, then the cover, then find the switch. I'm wondering if there is a way to bypass the passenger presence switch. I tried unplugging the various wires under the seat and then reconnecting them but that didn't work either (thought there maybe a loose connection).
