so this is my second Outlook, both are 08's and both have had this same problem. The popping noise happens when I turn the wheel to the left, and I hear and feel it in the steering wheel. I am being told it is the flexible shaft that runs down to the steering linkage. WHATEVER it is, it is a design flaw and it pisses me right off. The strut towers have been replaced, the bolts all have been re torqued, and it still pops. GM does some creative stuff in their cars, but sometimes I just have to scratch my head and wonder what the **** they were thinking with this one. I wonder if the Acadia has this same problem...or the Buick for that matter. I never had this type of problem with my Toyota Sequoia...but then again it was 15 thousand more than the outlook.

The Saturn Aura has two different types of steering, one standard set up with a pump and the other computer driven. I didn't think they put this in the Outlooks but they might have in the 08's. Might check that out. I have never had any problem with the steering on my 07 and first thought would be the struts. Could the tire be hitting something and the vibration is going all the way up to the steering wheel? I have had that in other cars and it was an alignment problem, just a thought.

I have the same problem that just started in December. It didn't bother me at first but seems to get worst at every turn. Going in next week and waiting for what excuse they will give me this time.
