For the record....all you need to do is pull up on the rails at the ends near the windshield. There are grommets that the rail clips into. If you want to remove the entire molding front to back you'll need to remove the roof rack as well.
I was removing for the purposes of locating and repairing voids in the seam that the molding covers. Knock on wood but I believe by applying seam sealer to some voids this has FINALLY addressed the last leak in my Outlook. It has passed several car wash tests....last test will be to park nose down on a slope in the rain to see if she remains dry.
I have 2008 xe without roof rails. I purchased used set and my surprise was that you need to drill holes in the roof to install. Is this true? Any other car has rails installed over the dich cover utilizing factory studs or threaded holes. Please advise
