I just bought an '08 Outlook and one key fob does not work. I replaced the battery. Is there a way that I can program the key fob myself or do I have to take it to the dealer?
Also as a side note, has anyone seen a car with two sun roofs. The back one does not open and has a curtain that covers the opening with an electric slide devica. Real neat but I have never seen one.

To access the disply, the vehicle must be in park. The display allows you to match Remote Keyless Entry Transmitters to your vehicle. To match Transmitter to your vehicle:
Relearn Remote Key Method #1
1) Press the trip odometer reset stem until RELEARN REMOTE KEY displays
2) Press and hold the trip odometer reset stem for 3 seconds.
The message REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE will disply
3) Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the first remote at the same time for approximately 20 seconds.
A chime will sound indicating that the transmitter is matched
4) To add additional remotes at the same time repeat step 3. You can program up to 8 remotes.
5) to exit program mode you must cycle the key to lock.
Relearn Remote Key method #2
1) Press the vehicle information button untill Press to RELEARN REMOTE KEY displays
2) Press the set/reset button until REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE is displayed
3) Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the first remote at the same time for approximately 20 seconds
A chime will sound indicatingthat the transmitter is matched
4) To add additional remotes at the same time repeat step 3. You can program up to 8 remotes
5) to exit program mode you must cycle the key to lock

I believe you have to relearn both remotes at the same time so have both remotes with you.
I was able to do this with my Outllok about 7 months ago. I also have the sunroof. Correct the rear sunroof does not open, only the screen opens and closes

Thanks a lot Danler, method 2 worked great. I tried method 1 and nothing happened. That had me worried. Then method 2 came through. I have never seen two roof windows before. I really like it. I have a '07 XR and it has a lot of things that this '08 does not have. I assumed that it would be the same as the earlier model, but it is not. Thanks again...Bill

I just bought a 2007 XE. The RPO codes say I have keyless entry but the SUV didn't come with any remotes. I purchased 2 on ebay and would like to program them myself. Can anyone verify that these steps work? I tried both ways with the key in but not turned and also with it turned to accessory and lock. Am I missing something? How long do you have to hold in the buttons to trigger programming mode? I tried about 2 minutes for each combination.

Sorry for digging up an old topic but the dealer closest to me is going to try to charge me $45 for each remote to be programmed. $90 for 5 minutes worth of work rubs me the wrong way. They are charging me $30 for a spare key to be cut. Any one know if I can get the programming done cheaper anywhere else? How about a cheaper key? Thanks for any ideas or responses.

I just relearned 2 remotes on my 2010 Traverse.

I used method 2.
My manual says 15 seconds... but in reality all it took was about 5 seconds or se before I heard a beep beep chime.

One battery in one fob was not working. (there was some sticky stuff on the battery contacts) and the fob had not worked in a while-- I put a new battery in and the remote still wouldnt work- when I relearned the FOB it worked.
So I suggest you try a new battery in at least one.

I figured it out... I was pressing and holding the trip reset and info button in. I also didn't read the manual. So completely my fault.

I have the XE which is the lower model. I had to put the key in the ON position and then press and release the trip reset stem until it said "RELEARN REMOTE KEY" displayed on the trip screen in the gauge cluster. Then I held the stem in until it said "REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE" Then I held the lock and unlock buttons on the key fobs until I heard 2 faint beeps.

Worked like a charm now I have keyless entry. Just gotta get an extra key now.

Thanks for the reply.
