We have a 07 xe standard radio turn it on yesterday and all of the stations on the fm band are static I then checked am and cd they both worked good. I had to drop it off at the dealer anyways so later on they called and said the radio needs a software update to fix the problem and it would be fixed under warranty. Does this sound like bs??

Sure does sound like it could be BS. I don't see how it would matter though because they are doing the repair for free under some type of warranty for you. There have been radio updates done on Navigation equipped radios, but this is the first I've heard of one for the FM band. I'm thinking they will just replace the complete radio for you.
The software update worked and they didn't replace the radio!!
Glad that took care of it for you, and it was done under a warranty also.
It was certified with a year warranty.
