Ok folks I am in need of assistance.

I have a 2007 Outlook XE and want remote start. I had found previous threads that state this is possible and have been met with resistance at my local dealership.

I have thE AP8 code on the Service Requirement sticker in the glove box but am being told I need the AP3 code. They are saying they might be able to do it but I have to buy a kit that is now discontinued and considered a vintage part.

Any 07 XE owners out there who have had this done and had it work???

A 2007 part/kit considered "vintage"? Give it 20 years maybe. But it's not vintage that's for sure. GM has to maintain a 10 year supply of parts. As for GM after-market kits/accessories - that may be a different story. Even so, it's a Lambda so you'd be able to hit another dealership and let them have at it.

I found mixed results amongst local dealers when it came to getting warranty work done. When I started looking for the Advanced Remote Start accessory (for extending the range of my already remote-start equipped Outlook), I found a dealer who was plenty familiar with the drill and they were a Pontiac/GMC dealer.

Give another dealer a shot if you have others nearby. You might obtain better results.

Well turns out I am going to another dealer and they can do it. I had everyone up to Saturn customer service saying it couldn't be done.

So I contacted the local GMC dealer (who has always said they couldn't work on my Saturn) and they said yes!!! Going tomorrow to have it done.

I'll post tomorrow and let you all know how it goes :)

Sorry for the delay all, weather prevented my part from arriving on time. I took my car to Ron Smith GMC on Tuesday morning and had remote start by Tuesday afternoon!!!!

It works BEAUTIFULLY!!!! I am not sure what they did but my husband found as long a you have the code AP8 (remote keyless entry) and not E61 (power lift gate) they can do it. He found his info on an Acadia forum.

So since I have the AP8 I was able to get it. It was with tax and all $317.06. The part was 195 and change and th part is also an Acadia part as well as a Saturn part. The part number is 17801236.

Good luck to anyone else who goes for it. I love mine. Right now my only issue is my liftgate latch has failed so it pops and when it's popped I can't start it remotely. Once that's fixed I will be a happy camper :)

Well, the dealers around me normally have me add my remote starters to thier customer's vehicles even if they have the right code for GM remote starter. The reason is my basic remote start installed is only $185 which gives a lifetime warrant and 2500' of range versus 500' from the factory. In addition, many people now use smart phones and I have an app for remote start which gives you unlimited range and you can view your car in real time via your phone.

Another thing I've noticed is that if the customer has had an aftermarket remote start before, they normally don't like the factory style with the limited range, short run time, and small # of start times before you have to start it with the key. Those of you that haven't gotten a remote starter yet may want to do a little more homework first before jumping on a system that may or may not work the way you want it to.
