Our '09 Outlook failed to shift while trying to pull onto the highway from a rest area while on vacation in Iowa hundreds of miles from home. Scary! Engine code check said that #3 solenoid was stuck 'off'. We had it towed to a nearby dealership and was told that the transmission was a total failure, internal torque destroyed. The wave plate broke and was replaced less than 2,000 miles ago at our local dealer. Is it possible that debris from the wave plate wasn't cleaned out properly and caused the transmission failure? Do we have recourse with GM? We had a GM reman transmission installed at a cost of $4,900 because that was the only option. It seems ridiculous that this happened at a relatively low mileage.

Thanks!

Surely you must have some recourse with dealership that did repair. That's too soon after repair (in miles, at least.) :eek:hno:

Hopefully a GM rep will chime in here with a positive response.

Sorry you were stranded, especially on vacation, especially far from home.

Just so I'm clear, did you have the transmission actually replaced, or just rebuilt to replace the waveplate?

Either way, I would take it back to the dealer and have them fix this.
