This is a copy of a post made by ccaats on enclaveforum.net, but since I find it extremely useful (and didn't see it posted here before) I thought a reprint was called for - thanks ccats!! (source: http://www.enclaveforum.net/index.php?topic=2997.0)
OK, I am sure most of you had already figured this out, but I was pleasantly surprised by a wonderful "design feature" of the Enclave that I discovered today. Let me start by saying that my main "nitpick" with this car's design was regarding the smart slide tracks' GAPING opening and my fear of our four kids dropping many items, food crumbs, etc down in them and it being a pain in the Booty Shake to clean out. I wished that GM had included some sort of slitted rubber track cover, or brush cover, similar to what was on the concept Enclave I saw on display at Epcot. HOWEVER, I have found that the lambda design team DID have a plan for easy cleaning of these tracks if/when the need should arise. Well, our need hit this weekend. We had attended my niece's wedding and all four of our kids decided it was IMPERATIVE that they take as much bird seed back with them to our beach condo to feed to the seagulls and pelicans. Well wouldn't you know it, "not me" spilled an entire cup of birdseed in the 3rd row on the floor and much of it collected in the smart slide tracks. Dad wasn't a happy camper. HOWEVER, when embarking upon the task of cleaning ALL that lost birdseed out of the tracks, I discovered that ALL of the plastic track covering can be easily "popped" out with your fingers giving easy access to the ENTIRE smart slide track system for cleaning! I knew that the one side popped out in front of the right 2nd row seat for access to the battery, but didn't realize ALL of the covering popped out just as easily. Now THAT is one of those "little things" done right, that makes this a great car. I have posted detailed pictures below and you can also see the thick foam padding underneath the carpet (explains why the center aisle "sinks" so much when you step on it). Anyway, hope this "enlightens" any of you that weren't aware of this.
